Anti virus for my rig

Hi All

What anti virus would you guys recommend for a gaming rig ? Thats low on resources and does the job well :)
 
I was using msse but im giving avast free a shot.
So far i see no difference except avast has less false positives then msse.
and i think my boot time is a little faster wth avast.

I ended up installing Avast on all the computers at work, its just way better than AVG Free in a lot of things, foot print included.

Dude, relax... I wasn't replying to you.

I meant it is free as opposed to other suites like NOD32 and Kaspersky (and God forbid, McAfee and Norton).

Microsoft Security Essentials is a solid piece of software and does what it is supposed to do very well.

Avast is OK I guess, but I don't care much for two different little revolving balls in my system tray.
I only want my Anti-Virus to become visible when there is a problem.
Other than that Avast is not a bad suggestion, certainly better than AVG Free.

Lol i am relaxed.. Just ask why msse but if ur reason bec of a revolving ball in the system tray then hey, hands down msse wins.
I just read reviews and both got good ratings but avast won in those reviews. Thats y im giving avast a go... Also free so y not.
I do like msse but i didnt know what was a virus and what wasnt a virus bec of all the false positives i had...
And just bec people say it is a false positive doesnt mean it is.

over a month with avast and no false positives.

switch to linux :)
but msse is good as well
 
Thanks everyone for the feedback gonna give avast a try and if that doesnt float k7 :)

I have been using it for just under year alongside Kaspersky and am happy with it so far. Not resource heavy.

Kaspersky expires today, so will need to look for upgrade or replacement for Internet Security (...and definitely not Norton or McAfee! ;))
 
Microsoft security essentials updates are tiny maybe 200kb to 3mb max. Thats one reason to use it.
 
When I read a topic that talk about an antivirus the number one people suggest is avast. I think avast really is the best antivirus but I'm not familiar with it. I've been using three kinds of antivirus since I've got a PC. Norton then AVG and now ESET Nod32.
