Until recently it appeared that anti virus / spyware were dedicated software programs. Therefore to fully protect oneself users would have to install an anti virus and an anti spyware program. I use Spyware Doctor and Nod32. I also use Zone Alarm as a firewall.
Both Spyware Doctor and Zone Alarm have just released upgrades and both now offer anti virus and anti spyware capabilities. Both do not recommend running two anti virus programs and prompt the user to turn off one of them.

What is the best method to protect oneself? Should I run all three programs or can I uninstall some of them? In fact, can I only use Zone Alarm which offers firewall, anti virus and anti spyware?

I am paranoid about protecting my computer!!!

Good debate on this is welcome!
