Antidepressives pole

besides, it is my personal opinion that depression is a normal human condition.

but it is unwise NOT to seek help if you are considering suicide or any act of violence against other people, such as killing your family.

Never have never will. I believe the only drug that should be taken is a grandpa. I don't like it when chemicals starts messing with my head. Also the reason I have never done any hard drugs. I like being in control just a little high grade weed every now & then :p

Untreated depression is accompanied with hippocampal atrophy. It is not known whether depression causes the hippocampus to shrink or whether hippocampal atrophy causes depression. In this sense depression may be seen as a neurodegenerative disease. Antidepressants reverse this atrophy. Depression that is left untreated becomes more treatment resistant.

In my opinion the biggest problem with SSRIs is SSRI-induced anhedonia, namely a reduced capacity for pleasure, caused by the fact that long term SSRI use has an antidopaminergic effect.

I have in the past used Zoloft but I do not see it as a long term solution. At the time however it was a lifesaver and I consider the period I spent on Zoloft as having been one of the most productive periods of my life.

I believe Zoloft impeded my ability to enjoy music. To this day, years after I stopped the Zoloft, I am unable to achieve the same intensity of pleasure listening to music as I was able to in the past. Doctors will typically say this is a symptom of the depression rather than a side-effect of the Zoloft but I do not agree since even when I was very depressed I still enjoyed music intensely.

I benefited tremendously from therapy. Therapy addresses the software, drugs the hardware.

I no longer have depression.
