This has probably been asked before.
Is there a proxy solution out there with rules based access control can be updated for content suspected to be spyware / activeX controls?
I have the main computer that connects to the internet installed with Proxy+ and Symantec Antivirus. All other computers in the house are connected wirelessly via an X-Micro wireless router to this proxy.
I have been running for a year like this and have noticed that it effectively eliminates known HTML exploits from the Proxy+ cache.
I have similar implementations where you download an updates hosts file that contains a list of known marketing sites like ad.doubleclick. It simply resolves those sites to 127.0.0.1
I get the idea while writing this that perhaps forbid all .ocx files? But then again these active x code writes are always a few steps ahead, they probably randomnize the file extensions so probably rule sey that you can download is the way to go ?
