Hi, hoop everyone is having an awesome Friday so far!

I am looking for an antivirus/security app for android and have done a search on the forum, however there are so many listed in the forum with no clear leader/winner.

I was hoping everyone would be so kind as to indicate which one they will recommend and why

Appreciate it :)

I am using ESET at home - never looked back. (and I tried them all!!) Basically a "load and forget" anti virus program.

I see they have a "mobile anti virus" program as well. Maybe give them a trial run?

Was just about to recommend them.

Yup go for eset, lightweight and secure. The android version works well.

You don't need one. Unless you're installing dodgy apps off the market.

If you insist. Avast + anti theft. Mostly for the anti theft.

I do not download dodgy apps, but after the recent spate of internet banking fraud I will feel a little better having a security/antivirus app installed. Yes I know it will not prevent it especially if people are being dumb with phishing emails etc, but I think rather safe than sorry in this case is the better alternative.

Thank you for the replies!

Ive always used avast and have never had a days problem. Both at home and on mobile :)

Cant say anything in regards to ESAT as ive never used them.

FNB gives the option of free anti-virus called Webroot.
I've not had any problems and a lot of the spam I used to received, are a thing of the past.

One more vote for Avast here. It's lightweight, doesn't slow your system down like McAffee or Norton does. AVG is also pretty good.

Eset nod is excellent and avg for a free version is also good. I dont thing n antivirus can think for a person not to click on a phising attack? It does well to protect from malware and programs installing from play or external.

i use avast as well, i was browsing TPB when it downloaded an apk without me even knowing luckily avast picked it up and gave me a warning after which i promptly deleted it.

That is what I am a bit worried about. Even being very careful these days does not seem to guarantee safety.

Avast has the most votes so far, going to download it and give it a try.

Thank you again for the assistance, much appreciated :)
