Ive recently gotten very interested in taking photos of space, although i hardly have the gear to do it.
I was suprised that by using the Deep Sky Stacker free software and without a tracking mount for my camera I still managed to take some pleasing photos with just my 30D. We are lucky to have such a good view of the milky way from south africa. Any astrophotographers or space experts know of something else my camera might be able to get a decent photo of? I just have no idea where in the sky to point haha. this first photo was at a pretty empty patch of sky but with 4 20 sec exposures at 300mm you can see an amazing amount of detail. The second is of the milky way, the third is of something else and the fourth is an old one of comet mcnaught which was here in 2007.
Feel free to post your own spacey photos. and how do i make these photos display on the forums
