Any compelling argument against eating every 24 hours?

I find the purchase, preparation and consumption of food tiresome (well, okay not the consumption so much, eating is relatively pleasurable).

Anyhow, so I've been eating low carb for a while, so can go without food for fairly extended periods.

For the past couple days I've been eating a large dinner every evening, and aside from a couple of cups of coffee with milk throughout the day, nothing else and feeling generally pretty comfortable doing so.

It seems a bit extreme, just interested in any opinions on the matter.

Cheers!

From a health side I think it may be a good thing. Intermittent fasting have been shown to induce autophagy. eg. here is the fist result when searching it in google. IIRC it happens because of the lack of proteins, not carbs or fats.

For energy throughout the day, have a look at the idea behind Bulletproof coffee. I'm not saying go and buy it, but the idea of to use fats as primary energy source appeals to me. I drink 2 tablespoons of a concoction I make of codliver oil, coconut oil, olive oil and a few fat solubles every morning. Some days I also going without other food for 24h, especially after I had a proper steak the previous evening.

my exboss ate once a day for 20+ years (probably still does), no lowcarb/highfat, just a plate of food and done

I am considering adding coconut oil and butter to my first cup of coffee (although I would like to stop coffee altogether at some point), and will do so if I needs be, but I am also interested in the effects of a full fast. I'll experiment with both I think.

IF is awesome as long as your body can regulate your blood glucose levels properly.

I've never tried fasting 23 hours straight every day, though.

A life of misery and want. Food is a social ritual meant to be enjoyed.

Life is meant to be enjoyed, and gaining control of my diet and eating habits is one of the prevailing factors that is enabling me to deal with clinical depression without the need for mind-numbing medication.

And no, food can be a social ritual, of course, but it's primary purpose is fueling our meat machines.

So it's lunchtime. I'm hungry, no doubt about it, but I find that my hunger when I'm not eating carbohydrates is somehow stimulating and healthy feeling, as opposed to the dull roar for carbs I used to experience.

I'm looking forward to a large delicious meal when I get home.

The appeal of this type of eating would depend a lot on your lifestyle and goals would it not?

I dont think it could work for someone trying to build a decent physique. but interested to hear if you guys think otherwise

I'm sure this is indeed the case, and ultimately how we eat and treat our bodies differs from person to person.

I am embarrassingly unfit myself, and getting some exercise going is on on my list of general ways to improve my well-being. I'm just not certain what form of exercise I can force myself to engage in, heh.

Solves all your problems. As well as the budgeting one. Most days you'll even have food left for the next day.

Personally I couldn't make it to 15:00 in the afternoon without starting to see spots. So I don't know how you would get through any day of moderate physical activity?

Subscribed...interested in your experiment.

During the week, I eat a 50g bag of peanuts with coffee for breakfast, normal lunch and sometimes skip the evening meal. On weekends, I usually eat in the afternoon and sometimes skip the evening.

I drink quite a lot though :o (not frequently - haven't had a drink since last Friday but on occasion a lot more than I should).

I actually looked into that, and due to where I work and stay, the timing involved was unworkable unless I set up a lockbox for them or something.

I can make it through with no issues or flagging energy at all, which I suspect is due to the nature of LCHF. I suspect I'd be swooning by now if I'd have had Fruit Loops for breakfast. One way or the other, I'm going to try it for the next week or two, as I'm curious to see how it goes.

God knows, I'm going to have a mound of food tonight.

There is absolutely no chance I'd be able to do this were I drinking. For me, alcohol is the door to every other bad behaviour I am inclined to indulge in.
