any experience importing personal effects with SARS?

This is probably not the best place to put stuff but I'm getting pretty desperate. I'm coming back to RSA after working in the UK. I want to bring back my stuff to RSA as excess baggage. but my only worry is being stopped by SARS and being made to pay duties and VAT.

Some of the stuff I bought while in the UK.

I have read on the SARS website that you can import you personal effects if you have been out of the country for 6 months other than for travel here is the link: http://www.sars.gov.za/FAQs/Pages/640.aspx

But this being SARS I doubt it's this easy and if you look on the web for moving companies they all seem to have conflicting information. If you phone SARS they can't seem to give you a clear answer.

So has anyone had experience with this and would like to share please.

Brought around 10 tea chests back 9 years back, no duties that I can remember. Just chuck used underwear on top to discourage indepth searching

If you can manage a pair with skidmarks all the better
