My Mom is in a retirement complex, I've rigged the unit up for Gas heating, Gas Stove / electric oven.
The Complex trustees/management have been getting by with small petrol generators for emergency
shutdowns, but have now bit the bullet and are going full bore on 300+KVa diesel generators, to be
phased in for frail care, kitchen, road lamps, electric fence etc.
However, they have no (initial) plans to be able to supply power to the individual housing units,
it depends on how bad things get and how fast.
For emergencies I have a honda EU65is that I can drag over there, if the power goes off
for several days, but obviously the management aren't going to enjoy everyone running
there own little generators.
So I have 2 main issues for her, both re cooling: (it gets freaking hot in the summer)
1. Does anyone have experience / recommendations for running refrigerator from LP Gas / Electric mains.
Something like this from zero appliances
2. Any ideas for fans/ aircon, I'm thinking a battery UPS system could do to run a small fan or two,
and a small portable aircon (delonghi, defy, gmc-aircon or similar) could run off a generator.
Any experiences, ideas appreciated.
(I'm not opposed in principal to solar solutions, but please bear in mind my mom is 88 and the payback period is ...
