Any idea when iBurst is going to officially launch ?

My 56k dial-up is killing me !

I can't afford ADSL so it looks like I'm going to have to go wireless...

When are they going to launch in Cape Town ? So far it's only the CBD, which really doesn't help me as I live in southern suburbs (Heathfield).

Anybody got an inside info ?
 
They're supposed to have all their towers functional by the first week of February, ie. now. But I'm doubting it because of all the technical problems they're having at the moment. We might even see the official launch being pushed back a bit.
 
heh cape town, i guess all that stuff about you guys being 12 years behind is true

But they are hardly comparable. And one of those options involves paying Telkom. :eek:
 
iBurst in Cape Town

The delay with the expansion of the Cape Town network is due to the pending approval from the municipalities for the base station sites. The sites and the equipment are ready but down here in the Cape people are given a month to raise their (usually petty) objections to the erection of radio masts etc. We will probably only see the other stations going up towards the end of Feb/early March.

I checked out your website and I am confused. I was going to slate you for your misleadig headline " Wireless Broadband from R454pm " until I fully read your offering.

You have a home user option for Iburst with a 2GB cap for R454? as well as a business option of R599 per month with a 3GB cap (currently at R454 until April). Where did those come from, because WBS themselves (as far as I know) are only offering the second product and do not distinguish between home and business?
 
I'm trying to give users a window on what will be after 31-1-05, based on the info I have. I'm jumping a little ahead of the bandwagon, so I realise I am at risk here...so please see this as a genuine desire to help potential iBursters based on what is likely to come in future and not an attempt to be smart or make more money. I'm actually selling the h/ware at a discount (at my own expense) to make the cost of entry as low as possible...so be careful before you slate me. All the info on my site is accurate at the time of publishing and I clarify a number of times exactly what extra costs are involved in the different packages.

Business or home users can pick whichever package they want - I am just marketing it this way. I could have labelled it "power users" and "entry users", and I may just change it to that. I am open to suggestions, so if you feel my current packaging confuses more than it clarifies, please let me know.

I'm not going to pull a Telkom ADSL384 and only make certain packages available to certain users. Anyone can buy the business or home bundle. After launch there will be different packages - 2, 3 and 7.5GB. I have made my packages available based on the limited pricing info that I have.

Hope that helps clarify things.
 
Do you have a guestimate of how much the 7.5 gig package would be, and if a person is able to buy extra gigs (the more he buys the less he pays, but can buy in 1 gig increments) and then get charged via debit order? ???
 
sorry, don't know about pricing on the 7GB package. I know you will be able to buy extra gig's but I don't know how large or how much. I suppose that will be known once the cap gets implemented. I'll keep my site update as I get info.

How about a 1GB cap for R300? That would be a great product compared to dial-up and ISDN.
