So basically i bought an impulsive tarkir deck with the boosters takealot had on special i haven't played since high school but im keen to play just curious to see if any of you guys play and where ?

On and off over the last few years this side. Where in JHB are you?

My local haunt is Outer Limits Melville, though DeeTwenty in Ferndale and Top Deck in Sandton are also quite good.

You picked a rough time to start though, this is the most expensive standard environment in recent memory (if ever).

Im based in Midrand but don't mind driving, well i got that special from takealot for R350 got the event deck and 4 boosters plus from the one booster i pulled this http://shop.tcgplayer.com/magic/dragons-of-tarkir/deathmist-raptor so basically my deck is worth way more then i paid for it
 
No one near me is playing and i don't have transport to play at other places :(
 
I mainly play casually online. Don't have the time to grind anymore.

I picked up an Origins Deck Builders Toolkit a few days ago, been mucking around with the 'new' archetypes since I last played MTG 11 years ago

I played very competitively for 10 years.

you guys should check out sadrobot.co.za for singles. much easier.

I still have a few modern decks but standard is just way too bland for my liking.

I play Hearthstone now...

meh over hearthstone game annoys me too much :p plus feeling the actual cards is so much better like i have mtg on my phone but the real feels is too cool ...

im trying to teach ym wife now :D
 
I was just too deep in.
I played FNM every Friday, Modern on Sundays, and then every big tournament that came around.
on top of that I was playing in every Daily pauper event I could on MTGO.

I was self sustaining on MTGO because of pauper.

but the IRL tournaments were eating up too much time and money. I was spending about R3k a month on tournaments and additional singles to stay competitive.
and Food at tournaments.
I have not played a tournament since March 2013. I still play EDH with friends from time to time though.
