Any one got an iphone 5 working on Vodacom

Hi,

From which country did it originate?
As far as I understand if it came from the states, it needs to be from Verizon. Even though it would be a CDMA phone and ''locked'' to the Verizon network as such, the GSM antenna in the phone is left unlocked for roaming. Which is then where Vodacom should be able to work through. Just note, I've not tried this and is only from what I've gathered from reading on the net.

I've yet to confirm this before trying to source one from the states.

Well if you look at this post here :
http://mybroadband.co.za/news/cellular/59921-iphone-5-lte-support-in-sa.html

It shows the 1428 model will work 3G and EDGE .. Etc! But LTE bands won't be supported, you can try ask vodacom to activate LTE on the sim and change you apn to lte.vodacom.co.za

Tell us if you do :)

Oliver

unfortunately according to Vodacoms LTE page, LTE is only for contract, not yet for prepaid and top up, and shes on top up. so no trying LTE on that phone till some time next year
