Has anyone recently flown down to cape town or Durban? How are the social distancing measures on flights? Every seat full like in the taxis or at least one seat empty?

I need to travel to Durban next wednesday, don't know if I should just drive myself

I dont think there are empty seats, some airlines let you book multiple if you wish

Airplanes air should be combination of HEPA filtered and outside air, your biggest risk to me is the airport (no ventilation) and those tunnels to the plane, and of course the busses that pile you in like sardines with no ventilation.

Also if the plane sits for a long time with the doors closed and the engines off (no airconditioning system running)

The busses have reduced numbers per bus, half the capacity if I recall, so that does help.

Planes are filled to the brim as usual, but no in flight service on some airlines and no unnecessary movement allowed inside the cabin.

You can't have social distancing and run the flight economically, hence the very strict mask rules

The flights are full. The difference is the attendants will not touch anything and slower offloading as it is done row by row.
The filters will do absolutely nothing to protect you from a virus, that the person you are touching elbows with, has.

If you are high risk, do not fly. It's probably the best chance you will have of catching any virus.

But did you get it on board? Cape Town is the original epicenter of the China virus

I don’t know where I got it. Apart from the Airport, Flight and Gautrain, I only had contact with about 10 people. This includes 4 Uber Drivers and colleagues.
