Any software to develop php site locally?

I would like to know if there are any other software similar to xampp that create a php system on your pc. I dont like xampp.

Out of interest, what don't you like about XAMPP?

Abyss server. After you installed that you can install the pp add on and follow some simple step on their site... Done.

I prefer Abyss server over wamp any day.

LAMP

Yes, I said LAMP. I just load up a VirtualBox instance of CentOS and go from there. No special settings. No special setup. No pain in the ass. It runs on it's native environment and I have 0 issues.

Beauty of this is, you can just take your LAMP VirtualBox to another machine, boot the sucker up, and develop from there. I virtualize virtually everything now

Get yourself Web Platform Installer if you running windows. It makes it really easier to install PHP etc into IIS.

If your asking the question then stick to XAMPP - nothing wrong with it.

But I do agree with AcidRazor on rather doing a LAMP install, my preference when I code.
