This one that I used ages ago is dead I think.

Yeah I realised that when I posted something on a FX pedal and ended up just posting here. Don't blame them though, it's difficult to keep a forum going if people are not participating, including myself who got busy with life.

I joined their discord until I realised that the last post was in 2024.....

There seem to be quite a lot of Guitar Talk groups on Facebook but I'm not sure which is a South African one, if any.

If you still have access to your Guitar Talk forum account, maybe you can post something and ask where everyone has gone, if anywhere.

I posted the same on Discord, but don't have access to my old Guitar Talk account and it won't issue new passwords.

Looks like it is still active-ish. Will see what they respond. I think it is just a matter of everyone busy with life and probably not having time to participate.

That used to be a very good forum and the only fully fledged guitar forum in South Africa till the forum changed management/ownership, it was apparently up till that point largely run by South African guitar legend Alan Ratcliffe and the new main guy completely fked it up. He made totally pointless site wide changes that made the forum difficult to use/navigate and did a few other things that pushed away long time users. Just when Facebook groups was kicking off, so eventually near all the users just upped and left. I’m still bleak about that as it was a really good forum till it got needlessly trashed. It appears there is still a few die hard users that post from time to time but it's pretty much dead as a dodo at this point.

I'm trying to kick my own ass back into gear to play more.

I spent many years playing in church and local bands and stuff. But after getting excommunicated I only played in a couple of bands and then no much more since.

Yeah, pity about the forum, I never saw it's demise, only used it back in the day.
