The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
Qualification: Relevant 3-year degree.
Experience: 5 Years relevant experience. (Proven experience as a UNIX Systems Administrator of production systems with exposure to problem analysis and co-ordination, system design, software installation and system set-up.
Or
Qualification: Grade 12, with relevant vendor certification (HP Certified Systems Administrator).
Experience: 8 Years relevant experience.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance and tuning of operating systems, using a variety of functionalities and a range of associated products, in order to provide Software Support on an advanced level. Provides input to capacity planning, disaster recovery planning and in defining configuration standards, administration procedures and the problem solving process. Responsible for on the job skill transfer co-ordination of technical resources. This also includes the managing of a team.
This position's outputs will mainly include the following:
Designing architecture.
Installing IT infrastructure components.
Providing IT infrastructure component support.
Optimizing IT infrastructure components.
Researching and evaluating products.
Providing standards, guidelines and procedures.
Co-ordinating resources.
Evaluating and/or providing infrastructure solution.
Co-ordinating problems/requests.
The successful candidate will possess the following competencies:
Knowledge:
Computer software, operating systems (HP-UX 11:00 and higher), application tools, databases.
Skills:
Organizing techniques, analytical, communicating, database administration, project management.
Attitudes:
<b>Customer focused</b>, pro-active, innovative, initiative, patient, team player.
Special requirement: Must be prepared to work after hours when required.
