Anybody used a Wi-Bell?

This device connects to your house wifi and via a (separate) ringer and an app on your phone, rings and shows you an image of who is standing in front of it, provided they are not off camera

By connecting a relay module to the door station, you can activate a gate lock or motor from your phone(s)

It requires cables (2) for 12 volt power and (2) for the relay

The wifi signal where the device is to be located must be more than -45dbm or it is erratic and cuts out, or will not display an image

If you are away from your home wifi, you use Cellular data and must ask your provider for an "Unrestricted APN". Telkom mobile seem not to have heard about this, but Vodacom, MTN and CellC are fine. You need to apply for it, and it is free

Setting up is easy, but initially you must be close to the wifi router or extender and also pair it with a plug-in ringer

I have been involved in getting two of these to work since the original technician had no idea about wifi signal strength and messed about for days before giving up

Its about R2500 or so, the relay is extra

I've been using one for a couple of months now. Previous app versions were crap, version 1.5 seems to be finally working. I'm on Telkom mobile and didn't need to change anything. Motion detection is not perfect, as with any motion detection on any camera. The notifications for when someone presses the bell works perfectly though. Email notifications doesn't work at all, tried different accounts. You also can't change the smtp port, so you're stuck with 25. You can also connect the camera to other camera software to do recordings etc.

It seems like a rebranded device, when you log into the web interface, you can see the original branding (smartbell i think). Works great though.
