hey

who is running this program or sells it ? what u views on it ? :D

Easier to setup for applications than zonealarm, WAY better than norton ever was (btw AVG FREE edition is rated better than norton, which is sad) has many good features such as spam detection, intruder detection (hacking), supports various pc environments, such as a gaming mode etc. And is rated either the best or the second best, can't really remember.

I'm using Bitdefender Total Security 2008. It's awesome

If you a home user, I suspect it will be fine. We run it in a 150 PC network, with 8 servers. And what a joke. 90% of all our network problems all end up with a start point of Bitdefender. Absolute Nightmare. The Deployment Console doesn't work. So we threw that away, and reinstalled standalone. Every day, at least 3 machines crashes because of Bitdefender. Roaming profiles doesn't work, because of Bitdefender. And the worst, is Microsoft Word temp files are not deleted when saved over a network. Can you imagine the build up of temp Word files in a week. And the temp files are created in the dir where you save the document. We are desperately looking for an alternative that is more effective.

Been using it for a while for my home setup with 3 machines. Can't think of anything better for the home user at the moment. Relatively light on resources and does a good job. My only real bitch is that it doesn't like my torrent clients much and has a tendancy to crap out when they are running.

AVG would be my second choice. Norton has gone beyond being terrible and entered the realm of being truely abominable. I guess the logic being that if you have that on your system, few viruses or trojans can do you any more damage.

P.S. If you want to squeeze the best performance, try using a combo of Nod32 and the Nforce firewall (assuming you have an Nvidia Board). Nod32 rocks, but lacks any firewall component.

@ graviti: How about Avast? (Alwil Software)

I know a network administrator who uses it for a multi-national organisation who has servers and offices in different places in SA, and he is not looking back...

I'm also using Bitdefender Total Security 2008 on my Laptop. It gets the job done .

On my home PC I use NOD32 - also a little(big) gem.

awesome thanks guys , been using bitdefnder internet security 2008 one and its ok :)
found ver10 professonal wasnt very compatible with vista :( gave endless probs

I have Bitdefender 10 (vista) doesn`t use as much memory as version 9.
Used Norton before ,I find BD easier to follow.
tried to download BD internet Security 2008 , but froze before it installed propely (not without trying for most of yesterday)
only Schlep was I had to uninstall and put my BD 10 back and all the updates :-(

When I used Bitdefender it would hang on me every time....and please if you love your pc don't infect it with Norton...I still believe Nod32 or even AVG is the better solution... :)

Thanks
I have read Lots of good Stuff about Nod32 here.
Will stick with BD till my KEY expires :)

i bought bitdefender 10 and used it for 4 days then it crashed my pc when it updated, uninstalled it and it ran fine till it updated again then crashed it again. contacted support and they told me to copy the plugin folder and reinstall it then put the folder back. guess what happened again, as far as i'm concerned bit defender is sh*t!

Firewall seemed a bit simplistic. I need more than an ON/OFF switch to control a firewall. Maybe the advanced settings were hidden somewhere else/not included in that version. I couldn't be bothered to hunt them down. /uninstalled

using it at home and for clients. Very happy and no hassles with enterprise console or server versions.

I totally agree about norton... bloatware and kills your pc! think virus's think pc is dead so leave it to RIP with norton on

I nearly rofl'ed when I saw the graph on the eset site comparing resource usage. Norton had a note with "trunctuated to fit graph"

I thinks its hellkom:D

I have bitdefender 2008 on Vista.

On my laptop the updates don't work through an authenticating proxy like is set up at my work. So no updates for me.

On my desktop there is an incompatibility between the Bitdefender NDIS driver and the network driver for Nvidia nForce4 based boards, so I have to keep the firewall disabled.

I still prefer it to most other solutions I've tried and I'm sure the vista issues will be solved soon.
