Hi,

So from August I've been having issuee with my stomach, seems like an ulcer (burning, hunger pains and indigestiion). GP gave me antibiotics and was on like 8 weeks of omeprazole.

It didn't heal me, which was weird. So i booked a scope for next week.

I'll be given sedation (i asked for it) but it will be "conscious sedation" so i believe I'll be awake but drowsy.

Hoping i won't experience any pain besides the iv been put in lol.

Anyone else did this procedure?

No pain other then minor pain due to the IV.

Just a bit discomfort due to the pipe going down the throat.

We're you under sedation as well and anything you did to help with the discomfort? I read focus on breathing helps alot.

Yes, to tell you the truth its abit of a blur..

No but its honestly quite a quick procedure, don't stress 2 much:)

Full report back please.....I need one to. Told I'm riddled with ulcers, had loads of tablets but still need a good burp every hour to stop feeling top heavy.

It's most likely ulcers or gastritis. I know how you feel. It's horrible.

Had if twice. Once in the chair where they just spray some numbing stuff in the throat and I got to watch my stomach lol. Second time was under and didn't know what they did. This for a bleeding ulcer.

That's bad, people die from that... But did they tell what type of sedation??

I've had a gastroscopy because I also had ulcer like burning and loss of appetite (lost 5kg in 6 weeks - that was stress related)

Did one of those standing x-rays while you drink this chalky stuff, forget what it's called, then had an ultrasound, eventually a gastroscopy because the x-ray showed a potential hiatal hernia.

The drugs were great I just remember being wheeled in, given the sedation and it seemed like they then immediately wheeled me out but they had done the 30-45min procedure already.

No pain or anything like that, would do it again for the trip :D

Lol at least no pain etc, what were your results from the endoscopy? Did he/she just put you on long term acid reducing meds?

I have a hiatal hernia so I'm on Topzole 20mg for life.

Not something that can be fixed surgically according to my surgeon and if someone says they can they're just trying to pay off their boat...

Many a time, long before they put you under for a while. I was born with a bit of defect, but it only started to give me issues during my teen years of which I went on Nexium until my mid-twenties and eventually did a Nissen fundoplication. I had a recent check up again.

Noone talks about the cleaner medicine the force you to take in before the op that is the worst part.By extra TP. Super soft.

Interesting. I also have a hiatal hernia and also take Topzole 40mg for life.

See if you have this option.

Capsule endoscopy is a procedure that uses a tiny wireless camera to take pictures of your digestive tract. A capsule endoscopy camera sits inside a vitamin-size capsule you swallow. As the capsule travels through your digestive tract, the camera takes thousands of pictures that are transmitted to a recorder you wear on a belt around your waist.

Capsule endoscopy helps doctors see inside your small intestine — an area that isn't easily reached with more-traditional endoscopy procedures. Traditional endoscopy involves passing a long, flexible tube equipped with a video camera down your throat or through your rectum.
