Anyone drive an X1?

Okay seems the absolute simplest way to check for a face-lifted model is in fact the 8-speed shifter which looks a bit different.

You look at th mirrors. The older ones are more rounded where as the newer ones are trapezoidal. The bumpers are also different, less black plastic.

I’ve heard that service with the dealer is actually not that crazy as long as it’s pure service work. Which has been my experience with the bike which is why I asked about the car.

Yeah service wise it's probably not that bad if you compare it to say vw. My wifes polo had more expensive services than the bm..

Not sure how their pricing looks when you have to start replacing injectors or what not though.

My brother has a x5 with 250k kms on the clock and he just usrs some experienced "ou top" mechanic to do services without issue

My only gripe is the ride, which is unnecessarily harsh, but going at speed, 140+ it is solid as a rock. (And uses 5l/100km at 140km)

Harsh compared to what though?

My current GTI is ruthless. And what size rims do you have on as that would influence it all.

Waiting for a 2013~ sounds like a plan or just waiting on a deal to come along.

But will probably still go test drive just to make sure it’s what I like before starting the watchlist.

You can score amazing deals if you are happy to wait.

Ag those jobs always cost big money.

But will chat to my guy. Odds are he has the software to reset the service indicators and all that.

I’ve found that on the bike side BMW breaks down their labour charges into 5 minutes. So sure the hourly rate seems nuts but when billed correctly the totals are often way down.

They also use “preset” values for doing certain things. So if it should take 15minutes to swop air filter for instance and they struggle with a stripped bolt for an hour you still only pay for 15 minutes.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the car is the same.
