Proportions are horrendous on this thing. Since noticing it I can't unsee it. I looks like a giant rectangular tv box with skinny wheels on the outside. There's a reason most of the pictures are at an angle

Most people will still buy it. It's mainly a matter of price (monthly cost from the pocket) and looks. That why we had so many first gen stupid Kwids running around even though they had no safety features.

A lot of people don't worry about how long it will last. Affordable, can say "i have a car" and maybe some bragging "good looking car with features your expensive car doesn't have". That's all that matters to the majority.

When are people going to change this default narrative of Chines = Bad.

I dunno, the bronze / gold trimmings have never worked for me, the only car that ever pulled it off imo is a Subaru WRX STi ... it's destiny was always to be loud and obnoxious, it fits the part

I am sure just like any other car they also have their issues but I doubt there is anything exceptionally bad about them.

They wouldn't be selling like hot cakes if they were that bad.

Going to concur here, probably not the car for me, but I can't fault people who buy them. The Chinese impact has been so great, Nissan is withdrawing Qashqai's from SA, due to drop in demand.

Also like the look of the Beijing but the sheer idiocy of it not having Apple CarPlay / Android Auto means I have no interest whatsoever.

There's apparently a third party app that you can use.

For me it's not just native AA/CP support, I have no interest in anything without a premium audio system, which rules out 90% of the cars on the market. We always get the kak specs in SA.

But still these are not deal breakers for many, so Beijing is a good option for them...

Wouldn't really trust most South Africans judgement on anything... the ANC remained for 30 years.
