anyone else got VDSL on the bothasig exchange?

Hi All,

I got hold of Afrihost (they manage my line) to upgrade me to a 20mbps VDSL line. I am inside the Telkom VDSL coverage area in Edgemead Cape Town and the Telkom checker says I'm good for 40mbps (I am about 1.4km from the exchange)

After they said the upgrade was complete i noticed that my router was still connecting in ADSL mode with a sync speed of 16mbps.

When i got hold of them they said my exchange (bothasig) is not enabled for VDSL so they put me on ADSL2+? which i think is suspect because 2 resources from telkm (coverage map and line speed checker) say i should be able to get 40mbps??

should i pursue this with Afrihost and fight for my VDSL? before i do that i wanted to see if there were any VDSL lines on that exchange so i have some ammo.
 
I had an issue where I was connected to the MSAN but on system they had me on old exchange, basically sometimes you can be on the MSAN exchange but because their system shows that you connected to DSLAM they will refuse to do upgrade.

I saw engineer at Telkom and he told me that its rubbish, I cant be on ADSL2+ at 20mb and not be connected on MSAN as the old exchange doesn't support 20mb. But you will need to research this as half the things they say is usually incorrect.

Does your router support VDSL?

When I first got my VDSL they put me on ADSL2+ first as well. 1 day it just eventually switched to VDSL. You can fight it with Afrihost but in the end they are interacting with Telkom's system and they are just telling you whatever that system tells them. Other than that they really can't do much more.

do you think i would get better response if my line was transfered back to telkom?
