For some unknown reason I haven't been able to get to http://addons.mozilla.org for more than a week now...

Does anyone else have this problem? Is it an iBurst only problem?

I'm using FireFox 1.0.3, and when I try to browse to addons.mozilla.org the page never renders - just endlessly tries to get there without ever timing out...

I got almost the same, but it told me to upgrade Firefox to 1.0.4 before trying to install new extensions

i am using ie 6 and it tooka while to load but not that long. It does not make sense unless you are really just having k@k speeds i think??? What u wanna download - i can e mail it to you if you want or something else ???
just tried again and it loaded very fast

From http://addons.mozilla.org using Firefox 1.03:

Latest Update of Firefox Now Available
You must upgrade to version 1.0.4 or newer of Firefox before accessing the Mozilla Update web service. In order to keep your computer safe when using the Internet, it’s important to install new updates of Firefox as soon as they are available. Click on the Upgrade Now link to get the latest version of Firefox.

If you do not get this message, go to Tools > Options > Web Features and then select "Allow web sites to install software". But make sure only the sites addons.mozilla.org and update.mozilla.org are selected.

Yep, there was a security loophole that didn't check something when downloading from addons.mozilla.org. 1.04 fixes that.

Apologies I forgot that I had started this thread - it must've disappeared onto the next page of the iBurst forum...

I have just tried again, and I get the same message - I'm using FireFox v1.0.3, at least I get this far though :).

I will have to queue v1.0.4 for download in ReGet - all my downloads start out at ~50kBytes/s and then completely stall after a few MBz - just like Sentech it appears to be a timed-based speed shaping to death system, i.e. after about 60 seconds the download stalls no matter how much has been downloaded, I then have to pause the download, disconnect in SWE2, reconnect in SWE2, and finally resume to bypass whatever dumb idea WBS are trying, and I'm not yet capped...
Code:
Uploaded: 96.90MB
Downloaded: 677.64MB
Combined Total: 774.55MB

Remaining: 2.24GB
Anyways, I will get v1.0.4, despite WBS' determination to prevent me from actually downloading anything & using the bandwidth I am paying for...

ic, pm me and I'll give you a link to my FTP site.

I'll even make sure 1.04 is there for you. ;)

There is no time-based shaping. I have never experienced this. If anything, downloads tend to start slowly and speed up the longer they are. So unless they've installed this phantom software on your basestation with your username triggering it, I think you have a problem with your equipment, configuration or signal.

There is something that kills anything I try downloading, and it is seems to be after 60 seconds, and it doesn't matter if I use IE6 or FireFox or ReGet Deluxe, which will all tend to level off in speed after starting out fast-ish with at least dialup, but not grind to a steaming fishy smelling halt as with iBurst :(.

The evidence of WBS' Bandwidth Management System still not working properly is in this very forum, so combine that with contention on a specific base-station and things get very unreliable for some customers, and BTW I have done all that I can to find the iBurst modem's G-spot & get the best signal possible - except maybe sticking the thing on a lightning conductor pole...

Raithlin, I will try downloading again this pm - hopefully some WBS techie will spill their coffee over the bandwidth management system & short it out or something until morning...
