Is it just me or is iBurst painfully slow tonight? Im averaging 150kbps downloading from international. Even local is terrible.

Mine is very very slow and it started the 3rd of May 2007 untill today (7 May 2007) and it is still slow and I think it is getting worse.

On the speed test I will normally get 1 Mbit but now it goes to ISDN speed and also 56K modem speed and slower.

My torrents still goes to 1Mbit (100KB/s) and sometimes 117KB/s) but my browsing and antivirus updates is slow and also downloading emails and it times out a lot and I cant listen to streaming audio but in the past I could listen to streaming audio with no problems. I am still not capped at the moment and the Iburst helpdesk is no use and they told me that I must call Tradepage (reseller of Iburst and the isp i am using)

I am connected on tower 27 - Illovo (Laudergate) and had very good response from that tower with no external antenna.

utTraceStar also gave alot of drops in the chart

I am going to call tradepage tomorow

... so now P2P is fine in JHB?

Or are you using a proxy?

Strange that P2P would work perfectly but nothing else. Reverse shaping?

The load on the tower is 1 at the moment and sometimes 2 and Rating says 8/10 (Very good) at the towers that have connected screen in utTraceStar and sometimes websites time out and I must click on refresh

I am not using a proxy client but only when I am capped.

I am experiencing similar issues in Cape Town... (Gardens, Sea Point Towers 22,13 - signal < 55 dB – Usual speeds > 1Mbps - load 1 on both towers - Good IP 41.208.228.1XX)

Browsing is terrible (l/i), remote destop connections, so as VoIP,etc. - have to use Telkom landline to make calls, timeouts / packet loss is high (15-30%) with intl. pings at 535ms and local at 60ms.

Local Speed 250Kbps - 300Kbps
Intl. Speed 100Kbps - 200Kbps

All cached downloads (e.g youtube.com; windows downloads; etc.) deliver good speeds >1Mbps but any uncached sites/downloads are the worst they have ever been (e.g. forums sites with dynamic content; webcams; etc.)

It seems the proxy server is doing its job, however high bandwidth throughput is not available at all!

Hope iBurst doesn’t think they can mask the lack of bandwidth (stable) with a proxy server…

Sorry we're not all awake around 2AM to be of any help :p

Trying a random site, the initial request was very slow, after that the page load wasn't bad. 50KB daytime off an international site says my bandwidth monitor. That is pretty high for my connection, it only gets up to about 70KB thesedays.

Yet running the Gam Co speed test only gets around 10-25KB throughput?

Sentechs speed test, returns more normal results, around 40KB.

Ping statistics for 64.233.187.99:
Packets: Sent = 20, Received = 18, Lost = 2 (10% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 535ms, Maximum = 665ms, Average = 570ms

Two timeouts right after one another.

Update: 8 May 2007

After work today (4:30pm) I got home and I was disconnected and I recconect and so far the normal 1Mbit speeds are back and I can listen to streaming audio again (Streaming audio plays smooth) and browsing is also fast. I think that they worked on the tower today because i was online this morning.

Some torrent sites gave me 1Mbit speeds and some were very slow but it is working now

I'm about to give the finger to Iburst... my speeds has become so terrible lately :(

I'm pretty much the last person to complain, but yeah, the speeds tonight are pretty k@k. Just got a new laptop so downloading a whole heap of stuff... or at least I would be if it sped up any :(

Downloads have been and still are fast here, browsing on the other hand is not as good as it should be.

My browsing seems okay once you connect to the site, but the initial connection is taking long, excluding DNS lookups.

Pings are still mostly normal though...

Yeah EHV thats what I've also found which is not like it used to be.

Yet in general I'd say downloading is faster and more stable.

Same for my downloads, but certain web pages (most it seems) sort of hang for a few seconds (longer than it sounds :() before starting to load.

They get stuck on "Sending Request" accoring to Opera or Firefox. Lookups are done first and aren't noticeably slower than normal.
