Anyone From Pe On This Forum?

Im in London and I need someone local who knows what they are doing to go to my folks place and set up there ADSL?

They have just had broadband switched on Wednesday and just need someone to install modem and set up etc.

So Im looking for someone with technical expertise in PE, any recomendations?

Its the standard Telkom Modem, he has'nt even bought it yet will buy tommorow.

Arent Telkom supposed to do the install. The techie they send out should help them set everything up, especially when they are providing the router.

it is a great modem :)

are your parents getting the contract?

no problem with the contract or Telkom modems, don't let people throw you off..

If SNOT ever opens its doors to customers and offers an ADSL service to consumers, then one would not be able to afford to switch to SNOT whilst still tied into a 24 month Telkodemonopolies contract.

as if they'd ever be able to offer cheaper ADSL than Telkom.

Telkom is here and it is here to stay (unfortunately).

Not if one has asked for self-install, and one prefers to avoid the R404 modem installation callout fee...

But this is someones parents who must almost be grandparents by now. They need someone to come install for them anyway, might as well get Telkom to do it if you are technically unable. You know how old people are.

But if you can get someone else to do it for them, obviousy much cheaper/free, then go ahead. I just thought if they didnt know how to install that they would have alrady asked for them to come and install when they ordered ADSL.

Monday follow on, Telkom where phoned this morning they have'nt even activated the line, they said they would do it today, (this was supposed to happen last Wednesday). The reason why Telkom never installed modem in the first place was that my Dad was'nt going to use a Telkom modem, and a friend offered to install it. They spent 3 hours this weekend trying to install a modem on a unactivated line.
