Anyone gonna be playing EverQuest 2 on launch?

How is the unshaped account working out for you? I have kindof accepted that I will need to get one to play the game properly. Would prefer not to of course.
 
The unshaped account works great, no lag and it looks like it has decent latency to the server (can't say for sure since EQ2 doesn't have a lag meter). Counterstrike: Source on the other hand works brilliantly with pings ranging from 150-300ms to servers in the UK and US. If you are going to play on overseas servers I would suggest you find a like minded friend and split the cost and bandwidth on the unshaped account.

I have 5 copies comming in next week for myself and some friends. Being couriered to us as soon as it's released so we should have it by friday unless customs go wierd on us. Got a few more friends who will join if we like what we see.
 
I now have my horrid little hands on our 1st EQ2 CD-Key. Got cdromshop to e-mail it to me and destroy the box. Saves a bunch on shipping and is quick. Of course I don't have the software. But I have printed out the key and stuck it in a prominent position so I can stare at it alot.

My other copies shipped last night and I am eagerly tracking their progress on the DHL website when I am not staring at the CD-Key on the wall. (Currently at the DHL hub in Cincinnati).

Our group is currently leaning towards playing on the "Antonia Bayle (RP Preferred" server!

Looking at Mistmoore or Permafrost, when and if we get our copies. Looks like the Station Store buggered up a lot of orders. Received my "your order is in stock and will ship soon" e-mail on Friday, as of today still no tracking number or shipment confirmation. Some other people are experiencing the same problem.

Permafrost is our non rp choice. We are basically currently debating wether we want an RP server or not. If so then AB, if not then Permafrost. Apparently that was where the Ice Dragon Lady Vox lived in EQ1.

Obviously it's almost certainly going to be better for South African's to play on East Coast servers. (I can't vouch for the accuracy of this, but it is whats going around the forums).

West Coast Servers:

Strangely enough, it appears that you can ping the servers (use &lt;servername&gt;.everquest2.com).

Here are the results of my experimentation using shaped and unshaped ADSL done at 8pm (basically peak hour for us).

East / West coast doesn't seem to make a big difference. Once again, the unshaped ADSL is very, very consistant with relatively small variances in times.
 
Wouldnt Runnyeye be a better choice for us as the time zone is very similar
 
Ok it's official, only getting my copies next week. Got an e-mail from the Sony Station store appologizing to people that ordered the Collector's Edition, it is being held up in U.S. customs due to the "tin" box it comes in.

As for Runnyeye server and U.K. people - From my experience with DAOC the people in the U.K. don't group or socialize that much, this is pretty much the reason I will be playing on a U.S. server. It's easier to find groups, pick up RAIDs etc., and this is very important in EQ2 at the moment. They pretty much took away the majority of soloing content in EQ2 during the last 2 weeks of beta, so if you can't get a group, XP'ing is really gonna suck.

FYI: They launched 6 or 8 new servers last night.

Agree with Darkskies, I also found US servers to be the way to go. Of course we already have a small local group. We also have a bunch of friends from Camelot days who are going to join. We are waiting to see which server they join. Currently it looks like our choice will be Mistmoore. Permafrost is apparently overcrowded and having problems.
 
Got it yesterday. Played all night (Crushbone). Game is awesome.

Works great on unshaped ADSL. Also seems to be working just fine with normal ADSL.

EDIT : On Saturday we had 3 of us playing at my house using the unshaped ADSL. Worked great.

EDIT 2 : You really need a gig of ram to play this thing. Otherwise zoning takes really long. With a gig, it's no problem.
 
FINALLY our CE editions have shipped from the U.S., took them bloody long enough. Damn stupid U.S. customs got paranoid and delayed the shipping of the CE editions because of the "tin" packaging. Just hope that our customs aren't as paranoid. Anyway think we will only receive ours on Monday, at least we get 7 free days for the late shipment. Just hope my names are still free.
 
OK, one my friends have asked me to ask you (still with me[;)]) if EverQuest 2 will be playable on an ISDN line.
