Anyone had any experience with Hired?

Got an invite to this the other day: hired.com

Seems to be something similar to Toptal so was wondering if anyone had signed up yet and if so do you have experiences to share?

EDIT:
Due to the amount of negativity in my question I removed the link to hired.

Very sneeky way to put in your affiliate link. If someone gets hired who registered through the link I assume you get a cut.

You pull the same trick with your domains.co.za affiliate link in your signature.

I don't mind it but find it unfair that I once got two infractions that don't expire for only doing it once.

I frequently get "sponsored messages" from Hired in my LinkedIn account.

They also used to advertise "jobs up to $150k/y!", which was pretty dumb.

I'm asking a legitimate question here as I do from time to time, my bad didn't think you all would take so much offense to my using an affiliate link where it might be applicable... It's not like I sent you to a porn site during working hours or something, it is a link to Hired but hey I guess some people must have high socks or tight underwear today.

I got one from Sitepoint, been buying books there for years so I guess they're selling off the profiles or something.

Didn't notice anything about up to in the mail or on the site, so that's interesting. Otherwise it looked pretty legit but just trying to figure out what exactly they do, they seem to cater for permanent and contracted work so it looked like it might be a cool place to freelance.

Anyways, they replied back saying that they don't have opportunity in the my location but put me on a waitlist so was wondering if anyone else had any luck.

I skimread what you said and didn't notice about said infractions until now. I removed the affiliate link because you all got hyped but I don't see how this implies innocence, I have stated that I had used the affiliate link where it might be applicable, given the reactions I guess not... Anything else you feel to lambaste me for?

And your reason for putting the domains.co.za affiliate link in your signature? :D

Reason? Affiliate links generate affiliate commissions (not very much in this case).

I've seen a lot of members doing it so I took the que from the ones that came before me I guess. Is it against the rules completely?

As far as I know it is against the rules of this forum. Let us have a mod clarify as like you said a couple of people are doing it.

They no longer seem to have the limit, but it was bizarre that it was there in the first place. They cut out a large part of the market by doing so, and encouraged a bunch of people who clearly couldn't hope for $150k to almost expect it. I literally haven't paid attention to Hired in years because $150k/y holds no interest to me.

Yeah 150K damn chump change. :crylaugh:

Heh - yeah. ;)

The thing is that pay rate is so variable depending on geography, so they effectively excluded the Bay Area and New York from their clientele, as well as half of Seattle and Chicago. Whoever did their marketing back then should be fired :)

It's literally the first time that i've noticed them so thought it was some new thing.

Quite confused now though, in terms of advertising positions is this at Hired or for one of their clients? It seem's like maybe they changed their business model over the years because no it would not make sense to offer contracted or even permanent positions with a ceiling value.

See the thing is too, they market to me and then i'm basically just not allowed to join because i'm not within the few selected areas as you say... I think that shining marketing individual is still there lol :)
