Anyone have a Blu-Ray Rom?

I'm looking at buying a blu-ray rom for my htpc, would like to backup some Blu-ray's to HDD - Now the speed - I can get a 4x BD rom for R1000 and a 8x for R1400.

Should I fork out the extra bucks for faster speed, I read somewhere that the maximum read speed for BD's will by 10x or 12x?

how long wil it take to rip a movie say to hdd?

If you're gonna use it to rip a lot of movies the 8x will obviously be twice as fast.

the writers are way too expensive, just need it for watching blu-ray movies etc. and ripping some.
Seems blu-ray only goes to max x12 speed from wikipedia.
Can get 8x LG for about R1400.
8x is 36mbytes/s
max is 54mbytes/s

bought a blu-ray writer for R1500... was a once off sale tho, got lucky
