Anyone have an Eaton UPS?

I have a Eaton UPS at home.. Don't think it is exactly the same model, probably a smaller version.. No fan noise on it but, that might be because the smaller versions don't come with a fan.. The only thing I noticed is, that it is not happy when a you plug a laser printer into it but, then you shouldn't be plugging printers into these things anyway..

It is alright otherwise..

I have that same model
I only have 1 complaint - if it does an error beep (overload/battery fail) it does one long continuous beep to infinity,it's pretty loud
Otherwise it works like a normal UPS

Hehe, yep you're just overloading the UPS as a laser printer draws a ton of power during start up.

I've ordered one now. I'll see check it out and return it if I'm not happy but I'm sure it'll be fine.
 
It is very loud so I understand why people moan about it, but under normal operation doesnt turn on. I've heard of people install a resistor to reduce the fan RPM and thus the noise level.

I have two 5E Essentials at home, hardly audible with the fan on.
 
I'm happy with the Eaton brand. Seems well made and more reliable than most.
 
Yeah I have one of them, took it out of storage last night. I absolutely loathe the fan noise. So much that I am moving my entire network cabinet and alles to the garage. When loadshedding hits, the wifi will stay on and the fan noise can fokof in the garage.
 
Picked it up this morning and just connected it up. It is loud when it's charging/in use. I will definitely be buying an APC unit for the living room, this Eaton is fine for the server cabinet though.

Yeah that's a big no no, the inrush current on a laser printer is huge.
 
Hi. how long can you use your computer for when the power goes out if you have a 1500 Eaton or a 2000 Eaton. Also fibre is in other room so do I need same voltage for that to run for 2.5 hours when Eskom is down

Depends on how many watts your pc draws. In my opinion rather get a laptop + ups for router and ont.
 
I have a 5E 650USB - it is silent (no fan).

I also have a 5E 1500VA. The fan is very loud when charging and when running, comparable to a hairdryer on ""low" speed (I'm not exaggerating). The problem is that it takes 10 hours or more to recharge, so you could have half a day of noise after loadshedding.
 
Question if anyone knows:

Does the EATON 850 VA 5E Line Interactive UPS have a 1 x 7ah battery?

And does the EATON 1100 VA 5E Line Interactive UPS have 1 x 9ah battery or something else?

I know the EATON 1500 VA 5E Line Interactive UPS has 2 x 7ah batteries and the EATON 2000 VA 5E Line Interactive UPS has 2 x 9ah batteries.
