Anyone having slow/timeouts for pop3 mail???

I have had problems with getting mail hosted on IS i.e. Ananzi, gets impossible some days.

Throuhput is crap, most likely due to congested peering link between IS and SAIX.

Next month I am going to IS - ADSL provider.

yepp same here - trying do download my mail 1.51MB slower that dialup! WTF??

Yup, Cannot download mail from Storm due to the speeds, has been like this since about 10am this morning.

well what i have heard just now is that telkom is doing there protocol shaping for pop3...
and the peering link between telkom and is is fine....

same problem here, been getting worse daily for the last 2 weeks and the isp sysad can't seem to put a finger on the real cause.

On IS, email accounts hosted on one of Hetzner's linux servers in Cape Town and no problems what so ever.

We've had ongoing problems downloading pop3 from our servers. We're essentially on the IS network, and downloading email from anywhere else has always been slow. This morning was particularly bad, though. It took me 30 mins to download 1mb of email from a Telkom internet 1MB ADSL connection and I actually gave up in the end when it started timing out on the last email. It's definitely protocol/packet shaping as I can access the same server via http on a webmail interface quite speedily.

You've got to be joking, whats next? In about a month theyll probably start shaping http and then nothing will work but at least their network wont be "congested". This is bull****.
