Let's get right into it.

Slept with a super dodgy chick in an even dodgier hotel in May. Didn't think much of it until my skin started itching non stop about two months later. My dermatologist (who diagnosed me with unspecified dermatitis and said he isn't sure whether it's scabies) prescribed permethrin cream and told me to apply it from the neck down two days in a row. Also told me to wash my bedding and clothing, but no need to clean the house.

Symptoms subsided for a while, but now I'm seeing new bumps and I'm starting to feel itchy again. My friend who drives me to work every day is also itchy and so is my brother, who said it feels worse at night. D

Has anyone here had scabies? How did you get rid of these ****ing mites? Been reading up on it and apparently you have to take the treatment twice, seven days apart to make sure you kill all the eggs. Also read you have to clean your house like never before and have your close contacts treated, whether or not their symptomatic. So my doc pretty much wasted my time.
 
Calling all ex-scabies sufferers, we have a case please come and share your experience including how you got it.

Wonder if the hotel the op contracted the infestation at was a pay per hour establishment?

Scabies is contagous through TOUCH.
If you touch an infected spot and then touch, shake hands or hug someone you will share it.

Happened to a helper's child. She use to leave him "at home with her sister" and then went see the little guy on weekends when she had money for travelling.

She came back the one day and told us about how her child had this stuff.
My mom gave her money to take her child to doctor. She came back and said it was scabies. It turned out her sister was a floozy and also did not wash her hands regularly.

Apart from scabies I think OP needs to test for other STI’s incl HIV.

Also, don't sleep in a dodgy Dodge, rather dodge the scabies.
 
@tron, I have yearly STD tests and the one I had after the incident didn't pick up anything.

@sinbad, been there, done that. Just needed to know if anyone had any personal tips to share.

I had scabies before.There was a kid at my little one's creche that passed it on to all the kids in the class.
Was a bloody nightmare.Had to wash the bedding every three days for a long time.Used over the counter topical cream for about 3 months actually.You can ask for it at the pharmacy.Bought anti-bacterial soap at dischem to help out.

The biggest problem is that once infested,they can live for about 3 days without a human host.Really hard to get rid of those buggers
 
my legs is itching constantly where my socks end. Do you think I have scabies and the socks is constricting these little feks and now they bite more ?

Cheap way to get rid of them on your bedding ( even on you if you don't mind the smell ) is flower of sulphur. Not much that lasts after that. At one time I got some ****ty infection on my scalp skin looking like dandruff. I now mix a teaspoon into shampoo weekly and no more trouble
