Anyone here used Air BnB?

They use some service to cache their photos, often the galleries just do not display. I did look at over 100 properties though.

I've never had an issue and I used it on different devices (Mac, Windows machine and iPhone app).

Like has been stated on this thread, just check the reviews etc. Oh, and I read recently that a common scam on AirBnB is when you contact the owner to book via the AirBnB site, but the contact you outside of the website and request deposits/payments outside of the AirBnB framework. Then when you show up at your accommodation, it either doesn't exist or there are people staying there who have NO idea who you are or about the AirBnB booking.

But, I see a number of people have used it successfully, so guess you just need to use common sense as with anything like this.

Used it last year on vac to Durban, nice and convenient & affordable way to do things. I just check reviews etc but never had an issue

I'm planning a Paris trip in August, so I'll get looking on AirBnB. Never used it before though.

How was your experience of AirBnB in Paris? I am planning to go to Paris at the end of the month. Any recommendations?

To the other forum members who have used AirBnB internationally, any tips you care to share?

I've just booked a place in Montpellier for October, so it may be interesting to compare experiences!

I fear you'll find Paris a LOT more expensive for accomodation.

Used it for my trip to Hong Kong and using it again for my trip to the UK in a few months. Substantially cheaper than hotels. Not sure why anyone would want to stay in a cold/impersonal setup anymore (i.e. hotels)? Unless money is no issue and you get to stay at a fancy 5* but I'd still rather put that extra money towards spending money.

Every listing is different so you can't actually say what to look out for exactly but rather be safe and stay at places with a lot of reviews. The hosts are generally welcoming and friendly, they'll be able to give you tips on places to visit and where to buy things for cheaper - always a plus!

wow, so this airbnb thing is like uber for hotels;

first time seeing it; am really curious if they have hotels where there are no hotels;
places like military bases, mines things like that........

Really good feedback on using AirBnB. I think I am going to try it out for my accomodation. Time to change the mindset away from Hotels.

I've used it overseas and on a recent trip to JHB and always been a pleasure. Mostly cheaper, although some places in Ireland some B&Bs and hotels were cheaper.
