I am looking for a multifunctional printer (print, copy, scan and fax)...

I obviously want a good quality product but am looking for one that is quite good value for money.

I was keen to get a Canon Pixma MX330 All-in-One Color Inkjet Printer but have heard some bad things about it...

I want something that is cost effective to run and prints good quality images.

Any suggestions?

Why on earth would you want a multidysfunkshinall dust-gathering office-paperweight? Unless you're running a corporation from a broom closet.

I bought a multi functional when I was just starting up the business. Got a Canon MP530. Served me well. Carts are expensive and the whole thing is useless, including fax, if the ink in one of the cartridges runs out. So you have to keep a stock around. I seldom fax out, but use the machine primarily for scanning / copying. It scans to a PDF and then I can print ... obviously don't have much to do with it ... few pages per month. It's now 2.5 years, still works. If I had to replace, I may not go for a multifunctional. I have separate printers, just need a fax and copier.

The Canon Multi functionals are awesome units
some of the nicest print quality I have seen in a qhile

for a dedicated workhorse

we abuse our samsung unit at the office here and it works hundreds, just keeps running out of paper :(

I am very happy with my Canon MP810. The individual cartridges average about R100 each.
