Anyone know WHAT caused this kernel problem and how easy it is to fix pls?

After another automatic cPanel update on a VPS with pretty standard setup the following email was received.

The system kernel is at version “2.6.32-754.3.5.el6.x86_64”, but the system is configured to boot version “2.6.32-754.9.1.el6.x86_64”. Reboot the system. If the problem persists, check the GRUB boot configuration.

After reboot the VPS don't want to reboot so I want to know why (as cPanel on stabile mode is not susposed to do that) and how easy it would be for an experienced server administrator to fix and get the VPS online again.

Did the server have enough space in the /boot partition?
That sometimes happens when there wasnt enough space to generate the initrd image.

On the server 78% disk usage but not sure what amount is allocated to /boot.

Would however be an easy fix for experienced administrator in such case.

Actually it happened several times before that the VPS failed to reboot and it then take hours before it's online again so that is why I want to find out WHY and how long it would normally takes.

What is the underlying technology of the VPS? Is it onapp by any chance?

As mentioned, check disk space.

Should not be very difficult to fix, it is merely a server not starting.
Make sure GRUB is configured to use the new kernel.
