Anyone know what this means?

Power came back after shedding this morning. Lights flickered a bit then went off. A few mins later came back, but is not right.

Fridge light on, but fridge not coming on. Only some lights work, but are dim. Laptop not charging, kettle not working etc.

Anyone seen this before? Been about 6 hours like this. Will it take Eskom a while to fix whatever the cause is?

Thanks, have unplugged fridge. Seeing other posts, will unplug more stuff. Internet still working. Will it be ok to keep that in? Rain external antenna with router.

Depends from area to area, as someone said everything but lights at the DB.

Whole area seeing same problem. Eskom are aware of problem. Strange they've not switched it off. Switched everything at db except lights, and one plug that has router. Been working fine so far, so am hoping it will survive.

As far as i have it an inverter can compensate for this

The output is derated

Ie it may only be able to supply a percentage if its capacity at 220

It is proportionate to the voltage drop

ie the higher the drop the more capacity you lose

And naturally there is a shutdown point where the inverter will disconnect from the grid and go back in off grid mode

Or at keast that is what mines manual indicates

Run for your trip and trow it off as hard as you can. Get clarity before switching it on again. It can be costly.

Had something similar yesterday. At lunchtime kitchen lights just went off, the timer on stove was still on. It only happened for about a few seconds. I'm not sure if the fridge and freezer went off as well. It didn't seem to affect any electronics. When the lights came back they were very dim. I turned them off for a while and when I put them back on they were back to normal. I didn't realize that this could be a sign of a big issue.

But there is something definitely going on with our electricity. The lights are dipping every night now, it doesn't seem to be so bad during the day. I've also been wondering for a long time if City Power is sending the current through properly.
