Hi all
I want to upgrade my late 2013 iMac with 16 GB RAM and SSD.
Last time I asked Digicape they quoted a crazy amount because it's apparently very risky to open this machine. IIRC it's the first iMac which had its screen panel glued on, so the glue have to be cut to open this sucker up.

I definitely won't be able to do this myself, so have anyone had this done someware and if so what was the results and where? I'm in Pretoria.

Reason is that High Sierra made it a bit too sluggish for my liking and with the conversion to APFS, I doubt that it will be possible to go back to Sierra.

Should be able to create a bootable USB and do a rollback.

I'd probably try that first before opening it up

I've done it, bit painful, and you have to go slowly, but doable.

I definitely wouldn't let digicape do it, they're much like Core, too heavy handed/ useless, and will likely break something.
iFixit has a good guide on taking it apart.

Once you have the screen off its fairly straightforward, its getting to that point thats the "fun" part. Don't get frustrated, just go slowly.

You can also update the CPU if you feel like it, its worthwhile doing so if you have the case open, thats a more advanced fix than the hdd though.
