Anyone own a Nikon D80 ?

There's just so much more data to play with :)

Here's a 6mp version of an image on top of the original 10mp one - (both resized at 33% to fit on screen)

Thanks for this info mod ...
Im sure there are loads of people here that would offer fair critiques if you want them. Just grab a flickr account and post away. :)

A far as composition is concerned a good rule of thumb is the rule of thirds

These photos you can find at dpreview.com and try it for yourself.
I tried to pick similar images.

Nikon D40:
Focal length 28.00 mm (42 mm equiv.)
Sensitivity ISO 200
Shutter speed 1/400 sec
Aperture F10.0
Exp comp. +0.0 EV
Notes 18-55 mm DX

Nikon D80:
Focal length 30.00 mm (45 mm equiv.)
Sensitivity ISO 100
Shutter speed 1/250 sec
Aperture F8.0 (better f-stop :D)
Exp comp. +0.0 EV
Notes 17-55 mm F2.8G DX (better lens! :D)

I blew up the D40's pic with a high quality scaler called Genuine Fractals Print Pro.

These photos are now both at 3872x2592

This pic shows 100% crops of both 3872x2592 files. The one is the D80 original and the other the D40 blow up.

I'm not saying there is no def difference. I'm just saying it's not big.

So what you're saying is . . . . you compared two different photos taken from different cameras with different lenses, apertures, iso's, shutter speeds and focal lengths - upscale one with a $300 piece of software and finally admit there is a difference? :D

Fine by me - I think we can put this to bed now, esp as the O/P already owns the D80. :D
