Im thinking of getting a Vuka XT 150.Its said to get an average speed of 80km/h and an average fuel consumtion of 26km/l (32km/l @ 60km/h)........It looks great compared to to other scooters and Ill be using it for work mostly......anyone have specific problems with this model?

Haven't ridden a Vuka, but did ride a scooter for years, so if you have any general questions I could help out.

General points to look out for - brakes (are they drum or disc); and size of wheels (diameter, and width).

It looks good. And don't let anyone tell you a scooter isn't a real bike (but give it a year or two and you'll be wanting to upgrade ;))

Nice thing is that it's a 150cc, not a 125cc, so if you do your licence on it you'll get a A licence and not an A1 (i.e. you'll be allowed to get a bigger bike without needing to re-do your licence - although you may have issues if you move from an auto to a manual).

Nice visible headlights too; don't forget to ride with them on!
 
Stay away from Vuka. I had one, and the people who service the bikes are monkeys. I took mine in for the 500km service - after which it broke down. Since then I took it back again, and it came back, with the mirrors loose and the bike giving very slow performance. I am sorry, but I have just had the one bad experience after another, and wont recommend it to anyone.

buy it, dont buy it - but dont say you werent warned!
 
You can't blame the bike for the mechs who do the service - that'll vary a lot from place to place.

I know that a certain number of services are included in the price, but remember that you can always take it to your own mech.

Oh, and slightly OT, but I highly recommend a full-face helmet. You may think you don't need it, because it's only a scooter, but you really do. I would have had most of the skin scraped off my jaw and cheek if I hadn't had a full-face helmet the first time I came off.
 
I live in a complex where a lot of the guys have scooters. Many of them bought that china bike, like the vuka too, and most of them aren't happy. It's quality just isn't that good. And for someone who will do a lot of km's I would stay far away. Really, trust me, I saw the troubles these guys where I stay got. Other than the big brand names like yamaha and suzuki, and so on, I would highly highly highly recommend Kymco. (http://www.kymco.co.za/). I know a guy who bought his third one end last year, and didn't have one day of trouble. And that guy is really a pain in the @ss when it comes to quality. I know it's a bit more expensive, but trust me it is worth it.
 
Better go for disc than drum - better brake performance, saved my a$$ a lot of times...

That ABS does not work - I braked hard on a wet road and the front wheel locked - but I managed to recover just in time...

As for fuel savings economy, small scooters roolz! I have a 125cc LiFan scooter, and it is very cheap to drive to work and back.

I got a china scooter :P Done 3000km and still going strong. Services are great and cheap... but have to be done every 2300km.

That's the unfortunate thing... but at least the services work out cheaper than a car's service.

And the savings on fuel... if it wasn't for the scooter, we would've been deeper in debt...
 
Yes I know some may feel different. But I saw a lot of guys battling to get theirs repaired. One guy, he waited 5 months for a new front cover, the plastic one where the lights are. So spares are in many cases a issue.

Yeah.. theyre growing brands.. mind you my supplier is well stocked, but I have heard friends of friends of friends have had problems finding spares.
 
When my drive belt broke, it had to be ordered - 3 days waiting.

Luckily I had my car... but still is a bit inconvenient.
 
went to look at vuka scooters, want to get the child process one. Took a 110cc for a spin and it had no problems lugging my 118kg carcass around. Can't say anything about their durability tho
 
Think Im going to take it in a month or so,if its a mitsake then ill get a normal bike(My brother has a 250cc 2 stroke Suzuki and he says it super heavy on fuel for a bike.A friends of mine has a 400cc 4 stroke and its much lighter on fuel)...........need to sell my old Charade 1st before I get the Vuka.Blew the head and its 3 cylinder and difficult to find parts.

The Vuka shop is about 10kms from where I live,not sure about the quality of their work but they seem to be well stocked with spares.
 
Does anyone know anything about the new vaspas with the two wheels in front? Its looks pretty kwwlll
