I am very surprised that no one is talking about this!
I started a couple of days ago and absolutely loving it.

jeez i'm stuck on insanity (last achievement to get). busy struggling between a level 30 soldier, level 30 infiltrator, and level 6 vanguard (i think - the one with biotic charge). omg i suck with the most basic enemies. anyone with any tips? also do you really need to do all the loyalty quests, as i am really not coping with insanity difficulty?

Biotics are useless on Hardcore and Insanity because most enemies have shields/barrier and armor. Biotics don't do a great job against shields and armor so Vanguards suck at higher difficulties. You want someone with tech, biotic and decent combat abilities so I'd say go Sentinel. The Sentinel's shield comes in very handy, and unlike the Vanguard or Infilitrator, the special ability doesn't just last a few seconds - the shield lasts until it is worn out. Then you just activate it again.

The loyalty quests are optional - once you activate the IFF mission, then you only get one additional mission before you're forced to play the final mission. The loyalty quests are mainly if you want the "no one gets left behind" achievement.

Also I highly recommend taking the armor piercing ammo when given the option to choose an additional power in the beginning. It just rips into shields and barriers.

No need to, you can choose Sentinel in ME2 after importing your ME1 character. It doesn't matter which class you chose in ME1.

hehe thats what i meant to say - use a ME1 save. unfortunately i killed ashley in all my saves - she was just so damn needy. i wonder what her responses would be like when you meet her in ME2. probably the same old waffling like 'i'll never work for cerberus' that kaidan gives you.

Bah!
I replayed on my save so i have nothing - have to restart everything...currently a renegade infiltrator at a piffling level 5
just started playing a few days ago.

I am getting used to the squad gaming again and the use of the infiltrator cloaking ability.
Playing a bit recklessly - died twice at the archangel door sealing shut stage - too much rushing. :o

Ah Kagey my boy, what's hap'nin'!
Yeah, also playing ME2 at the moment (juggling in between other games).
Awesome game, much, much better than the 1st one imo.

Kerrrang!!! Geez long time! PD/TK/OT keeps me busy!
Huge improvement. It plays like an interactive movie when lookingat the story pace and development.
Quite impressed!

Pity they never warned you about the ME1 saves beforehand.
I did a replay on my ME1 char on the same save...cant use her now.:o

So recreated her.
Quite a few improvements that I am not sure I like yet.
I miss the weapon upgrade system of 1.
Not too sure I am keen on the new "slimlined" abilities either.
Seems a bit dumbed down to be honest.

Well it is a great game and the DLC is awesome.

Are you playing dragon age by any chance?
Looking for an opinion on that.

Yeah, i have to admit the streamlined bit is a bit of a letdown, although i'm sure it probably made it more accessible to more gamers out there. (and that was most likely their intention)

Yes, played and finished Dragon Age - also a brilliant RPG. It's not Baldur's Gate, as much as the devlopers want it to be its "spiritual successor", but it's still a top-notch RPG and definitely worth playing. Although i must say i'm enjoying ME2's story atm a bit more. DA's is just slightly generic, felt there weren't too many surprizes along the way (except at the very end).

I'm also playing SO4 atm - enjoying the combat but damn, the story and cut-scene direction is pretty awful..

SO4 is a bit of a disaster I heard - especially the intl. version.
You must try and get Tales of vesperia - brilliant game.

What about borderlands?

Gonna use my soldier from ME1 on insanity. Yeah the damn barriers/armour/shields thing pisses me off. I mean, I've got a fscking pistol, and I can't use my biotics. Come on now!

One major gripe that I have is the size of the font. It was just about ok in ME1, but in ME2 it's really tiny. The only way that I can read it properly is to get closer to the TV and squint a bit.

The other thing is the health system during combat - I preferred how ME1 did it, where you know exactly how much health and shields you have before dying. In ME2 it's more like Gears of War, where you take a few bullets and die without really knowing your health status.

I don't mind it TBH. It's makes you think a bit more about who to take into combat with you, and which powers, weapons and ammo to use.

I just feel that they went too far making this a shooter as opposed to ME1.
I hate the regen thing too...you not quite sure how much damage you can take.
Like yesterday and the Archangel mission and shielding the doors...died twice...not even a satisfying death...oh and i do absolutely hate the whole "clip" thing too.

I was running around like a maniac yesterday looking for more ammo! However, it is an improvement over the overheating of ME1.

And yes, the font is too small, it's made more for a PC than an XBox 360 :/

I can understand the clip thing - they wanted to keep the combat continuous so that you don't hang around waiting while your weapon cools down. But the health status thing is a problem.
