Anyone recommend a Mage talent / spec?

I was fully speccd fire with a few dabbles in frost and arcane with the leftover points. Then I respeccd full arcane (51/10/0) .. ok full-ish. But although my bonus dps is much higher I find my overall dps stats much lower.. and I miss pyroblast, blast wave, etc. I'm wondering if its worth sticking to arcane for PvE purposes....

Any mages out there have any post-patch recommendations?

Fire is still the way to go.

I'm speced 11/50/0 with Focus Magic in Arcane.

Don't have dragon's breath or living bomb as those are more PvP than PvE talents.

check that out... On felmyst last night I was pawning, PVE frost is really nice with the extra crits and the instant fire ball. PVE is probably the best but its lank boring.

Very true. Did Kara last night for the first time since patch 3.02 and we walked over all the bosses.

Considering most of the members were new guild recruits with mostly greens and low level items, I'd say it was nerfed badly

For PVE/Raids: Arcane

For PVP/Survivability: Frost

The only bosses in Kara that were hard before the patch was nightbane and prince and some times illhoof.

The rest were easy mode.

Raid is never Arcane...arcane is PvP since the patch.

If you want to raid, go Fire. If there are raids that require something else than fire (incase fire resist) go Arcane. Else Fire is the way to go.

This is a nice spec for level 70

don't listen to them all three tree's can be used for raiding just depends on your gear.... I am PVE frost with 5xt6 and pawning the 6xt6 fire mages.

Everyone said the same thing about arcane back in the days yet I would pawn them all with 2xt5 back then! It just relative on your skill. PVE fire is the common raid spec doesn't mean it the best.

I must say that I have been trying out a new fire/arcane spec since posting this and I am far more comfortable having an additional aoe in the stable (blast wave), as well as combustion giving more crit% and pyroblast that is just schweeet to cast.

I have never tried frost mind you and there may yet be need for respeccing before Wotlk comes.

Arcane just didn't do it for me. Maybe my rotations were wrong but there never seemed to be a high crit spell in the bank, unlike the ones I have with Fire. *pause for thought*... although my major dps counter was the awesome ice shards. Its just awesome to see the dps ticking over on all the toons.

For the record I only have kara drops and created items; no t4, no t5, no t6. I got the t4 helm off prince but its not stacking up with my current doekie.

Wish I could link the new spec but it appears that eu.wow-armory is not updating my spec. (Its been 3 days!)

I've been specced and raided all trees and Fire worked out best for me...I'm pwning arcane and frost mages (we only have 1 frost mage in the guild).

So it prolly depends on gear, enchants, gems etc etc.
