There is absolutely nothing backing Tether.
Never has been. This has loooooong been known.
It's a virtual currency - a temporary holding place for traders.

Umm not quite true. Tether is MEANT to be backed by usd!

The article itself explains the while situation. It claims to be backed 1usd per tether... So it is meant to be, but evidence suggests it is not. Then again if you believe so of the mybb threads absense of evidence is proof it is true!
