Anyone tried Air-Net?

I have no knowledge of their network or service, but their installtion fee is more than two and a half times what we charge for a standard 5GHz installation.

This could be down to several factors.

They could be using proprietary, expensive equipment, or
They may be trying to recover their network development costs from their clients, or
Some other reason known only to them.

In my opinion, 80GB per month at a speed of 3Mb for R600.00 per month may not be sustainable.

Huh, am I reading that right a setup fee, which which is rather excessive and a rental fee per month.

portcullis,
We do not know nor proclaim to have an inkling of an idea as to how Cape Connect works and therefore cannot give an opinion about it. Please refrain from giving your opinion on a public forum about our business which you have had no dealings with.

Welcome to the Forum.

Attacking other users as your first post isn't a polite way to introduce yourself. But thanks for letting everyone here know your MO.

Everyone has opinions, and what portcullis did was share his opinion.
He even disclaims his opinion as such by opening with "I have no knowledge of their network or service".

Had he claimed that what he was saying was fact, that would be another story entirely. But I'm sure you'll find that everything he has stated is quite accurate.

Its always good to have companies directly interacting with the community and customers, but you should keep in mind that this is a public forum, and your attitude towards other community members will directly affect their (and others) attitude towards your company.

Yeah, welcome. Good to know right from the get go who we are dealing with.

From http://air-net.co.za/services/service-agreement

Also note we do not allow Peer to Peer software on the network e.g. Ares, Edonkey, Emule, Kazaa, Bittorrent, Limewire, GNuttella, etc.

Air-Net reserves the right to monitor any and all communications and activity through or with the Air-Net service to ensure adherence to the terms and conditions of this Agreement.

You agree that the Air-Net service is not to be considered a secure communications medium and that no expectation of privacy is given to you or to any user of your account.

Air-Net reserves the right to prohibit, remove and/or block access to any content or Internet capability, including any pages, Usenet newsgroup and/or IRC channel, at any time for any reason, including those which contain:

hyperlinks to material Air-Net deems inappropriate; and
material which promotes or induces illegal activity.

No thanks.

It would seem like they,Air Net, is rather more for buisness users than home users.
Sounds more like a Big Brother type of thing.

@Jackshields :There is loads of wireless operators in CPT. You just have to find the one that suits your needs.

Strange. It doesn't look like Air-Net are members of WAPA or the ISPA.
Nor can I find any details from the ICASA website about the License that they claim to hold.

That Service Agreement certainly doesn't comply with the ISPA Code of Conduct either.

This is a discussion forum, I find the fact that you are insulted by that disturbing. Are you afraid to justify your prices? Nobody here expects you to work for free, but if your fee's are double that of other people then there needs to be a (hopefully valid) reason.

If its because you are providing better equipment or services then state that.

Oh and don't forget to register as a dealer with RPM.

Yeah, welcome. Good to know right from the get go who we are dealing with.

Yeah, what a jackass is what comes to mind. Sure way to promote your business and win over clients...

Not so sure this first impression of Air-Net is all that favourable. :erm:

I don't see how this could work as a business service. What on earth am I meant to do with 15 gigs a month only? Being cheap is fine, but they need to offer higher end packages. One meg isn't much either. Only reason this is at all interesting is the upload speeds.
