Anyone tried SkypeIn Yet?

Telkom lL costs

L/L is not worth it compared to ADSL.

Telkom provides 64kb/s at 5581/m ex VAT as a SAIX ISP, the connection gives 16Kb international burstable to 64kb/s, but most of the time 64kb/s can be expected even without proxy servers.

The other option is the so called silver class service. around 2000 a month, but with only 8KB/s of international that's shared to four users! in other words a crap connection!

Hi Goodgirl - you can get gauranteed bandwidth over sat3/safe over ADSL through Internet Solutions. Its via their MPLS network.

Skype don't seem to be accepting my SA Visa or Mastercard...

There is more than enough credit in both...

What now???

Cc

I thought they sorted the ZA CC problem out, about a month or 2 ago i had to sit 10 times like with the skype online help to get my CC to work. I have to pay soon so i hope its not the same story. Eventually i went over to www.phonehome.co.za which eats a bit of bandwidth with the SIP protocol but works fine on Linux and Windows.

BTW the voice quality is the luck of the draw, on Sunday i had a magic connection to Europe.

After they had problems with being a verified by visa merchant, they now also take paypal and Moneybookers!

Are you placing the order from a SA IP address - it could decline if your card is not issued in the same country as your IP address.

For those who are having quality issues with Skype: turn on File>Options>Advanced> Display Technical Info. When you are in a call, hover your pointer over the screen. A box will pop up and display some technical info, you want to be looking for if and how many relays there are. I found on a 56k dail up, 4 realays would give me a really good connection on >43k, but direct tcp was best on <44k. On dsl it *shouldn't* matter, but t is Telkom... :-)
