Anyone using micro 4/3rds or similar?

I see a lot of talk about DSLR's, P&S and bridge cameras, wanted to start a thread about the Micro 4/3rds cameras, or similar from Sony (Nex-3, Nex-5)

I got an Olympus E-PL1 and I must say, I couldn't be happier. You get a full-sized sensor in a compact camera, with interchangable lenses. I also have all the manual controls I could wish for. With appropriate adapters, I can fit just about any lens on the market. It wasn't too expensive either. On top of all that, it just looks really cool. :D

The Sony Nex-5 looks even better, an amazing camera! I would totally recommend these cameras to a photography student or someone starting out, or a pro looking for a 2nd camera. It's like a modern-day rebirth of the old Leica or Zeitz rangefinder.

How do you figure when it has only 2/3rd the surface area of an APS-C and a ¼ of that of a full frame.

If I had spare money to buy into a second system I'd seriously consider it but they still have a long way to go before they can really compete with a more traditional dSLR.

The Olympus SLRs also use a 4/3rds sensor. It's not quite as big as an APS-C, true, but it's way bigger than a regular P&S. In fact it is exactly half of a full-frame, not 1/4. The Sony Nex-5 uses an APS-C sensor though.

I'd say my camera can do anything a DSLR can do. And it doesn't stand back in terms of image quality. That's why I love it so much!!

Youre probably right. Math never was my strong suit. Full frame has a surface area of 864mm2, canon's aps-c 329mm2, and four thirds 225mm2. Someone else can work out the rest. :)

At least when you're shooting you don't have to worry about the mirror slap. :)

I stand corrected, you're absolutely right about the sensor size. You got me there. And I consider maths to be my strong suit!

I wouldn't say anything that any DSLR can do, but I do believe that it might be as good as consumer DSLR's with consumer lenses.

Yes, exactly. The price is pretty much the same as consumer DSLR's, so I'm surprised more people don't consider them. There is some really sharp glass out there for it.
