Hey guys

Recently I have begun experiencing that my iBurst connection is getting worse and worse.

Tonight I have to settle with approximately 9kb/second. For the previous 30 minutes it was less than 1kb/second

This makes me think that Telkom would be much better than these guys!

Where are you situated? Is your modem placed near a window? What is the fastest speed that you've ever experienced?

Well for some people Iburst has degraded over time, mostly due to towers getting over-congested.

But 9kb/s makes it sound like a netowrk problem thats hapening over the last few hours or something.. do you mean a long terms thing over the past few months/years on iBurst?

Ofcourse the first thign to do is boost your signal and check your tower load to see if that is the problem, use UTTracestar for this, there is a sticky to it at the top of this iBurst forum. You might need an antenna or just to move your modem or current antenna around a bit to find the "sweet spot"

I had the same problem, try changing your UTD's ethernet (or USB, it loks the same in Network Connections) IP adress to 192.168.250.1

That sorted me out, give it a try its most likely your problem.

Well my speeds aren't too cool either lately. I started off getting an average -68db's, I'm lucky to see -75db's from exactly the same tower these days.

Avg download speeds came down from +-70kBs during day times to +-35-40kBs(please don't bring up the excuse of full speeds at 4 in the mornings, who sufs that time of the day!).

And you know what...I still pay exactly the same amount of money for the k@ker service. Damn I love getting scr#wed through the ears!

This is BS!

As usual check your Signal strength.Iburst is fine and working as normal. Before you complain about Speeds make sure Signal strength is good

Northcliff tower has been degrading but it runs really bad on last 1-2 days of each month and sometimes on first day as well, people trying to finish cap on last 2 days really makes connection speed drop BADLY!

That's because the Tower is over crowded. Iburst should really think about putting up more towers in places who need them. I recieve the Garsfontein signal and I'm moreleta Park.

I am in the Newlands (JHB) area. The connection has been horrible for the previous couple of months.

Hmmm... The Iburst website says there is no tower in Newlands. (JHB).

You're probably getting a signal from another tower which is too far away. How long have you been using Iburst and has it always been this slow?
