Is there anything I can do as consumer to get Telkom to install ADSL to my place regardless of the fact that they refuse to due to high copper theft in the area?

Has anyone had any luck with a similar situation? I feel as a paying consumer it is their duty to ensure I get the service I am willing to pay for.

Have you perhaps considered 3G as an alternative?
Yes, I need a lot of bandwidth however for around R800pm max. Preferably uncapped. 3G does not cater for that. I would probably settle for 100GB if the price was on par with ADSL uncapped 2Mbps.

Are you willing to carry the true cost of installing new cable & replacement thereof next time it's stolen? In some parts of the world that's the norm.

Go vigilante on those who steal the cables :D

Never mind the high cost of replacing stolen cables, are you seriously considering the risk of not being able to connect at all ... because the cables have been stolen? You cannot be that desperate ... :wtf:

We had the same problem in our area.
As soon as they replaced the underground cable it would get stolen a week later.
After about the fifth time Telkom said no more.
They even hired a security guard to roam round in the evenings.
But that didn't help.
Once these copper cable thieves zone in on a particular cable they just steal it everytime it gets replaced.
