I need some help with a difficult decision. I’m looking for a new PSU that will be strong enough to power a Sapphire HD3650 DDR2 AGP graphics card.
The card’s PSU requirements are:
• 450Watt or greater power supply with 30Amps on 12 volt with 2x4 power connector recommended.
All the PSU calculators I tried recommend a PSU in the 300W to 350W range for my P4 system. Currently I have a 300W PSU with 13Amps on the 12V rail but the PSU is about 6 years old so it’s time for a new one anyway.
My budget is nothing more than R600 & I’m able to get an Aopen ATX-ZAX500 for just below R600. The problem I have with this Aopen is that I cannot find anything on the web (not even on Aopen's global site) to give me specific specs on it, particularly the 12V rail specs.
1. Does anyone on the forum have such a PSU? And what would the 12V rail specs be?
2. If a PSU have specs that says “+12V (1): 19A; +12V (2): 19A” as an example, can I interpret it as 38Amps on the 12V?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
