Does anyone have some good apartment hunting tips? I'm ending my current lease in October and looking for a new place to rent.

Always view the potential apartment during the week, then again on a saturday evening...so you have an idea what its like during *rush hour*

Good advice bro, like a mate of mine who moved into a quiet upstairs flat in Centurion only to realise 2 shrieking lesbians live next door who throw hectic drinking parties almost every night.

Speak to the neighbours, ask questions.

This is why a good body corporate and rules are needed in a complex.
As for hunting, try get a pre-paid meter for electricity if possible. If not, ask for previous electricity bills to get an idea (some complex's like my previous enjoyed dividing electricity up etc...was nice and dodgy and expensive)

other than that, just double check the contract, make sure if there is anything that might be wrong with the place you mention it in writing with photo evidence before you move in (or asap after moving in).
Find out from neighbours what the complex is like, security etc etc
