I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good area to rent an apartment in and around Fourways?

Magaliessig is nice because traffic is slightly easier if you're getting onto the highway... Eastern side of William Nicol near Design quarter

If you dont work in fourways i see is no logical explanation as to why someone would want to live there. Even if you do work there, still dont see why. Ridiculously over-priced for what you get. INSANE traffic. All the boets swear at you if you just drive past them...

Lonehill isn't too bad, magilisig would be a better choice.

Summercon complex's used to be nice, nice vibe as well. If you are renting you dont need to worry about levies or emergency levies (which are bad there)

Try shingara sands, chobe sands etc

What is wrong with using 'apartment' ? It's perfectly acceptable. What do you think an apartment is ?

An apartment is an american word to make people in flats feel important.

Like calling a maid a "domestic engineer" :D

Yeah, avoid [-]Fourways[/-] [-]Cedar Ave[/-] that place. Rather get a place in an area close by like Douglasdale, Lonehill etc.

EDIT: Do the above if you work flexi hours. I stay of the roads until after 9am...

What's wrong with living in an apartment/flat?

Nothing.

I think you can divide people into apartment types and house types. In European and other big cities, a lot of people live in apartments their entire life. It's a way of life for them, because space is so limited there and we are starting to walk the same road here in SA. Where I live, apartments are mushrooming at an incredible rate.

I think this has more to do with security, wanting to live in a "complex", than anything related to space. As for living in Fourways, enjoy the worst traffic in Gauteng OP. When the q to take William nichol offramp southbound is 3 kms long on a saturday, or 4ways blvd is bumper to bumper that "apartmement" living in 4ways is really going to seem like a great idea. The area is pretty nice but the rate of expansion and subsequent congestion makes it a nightmare.

I used to live in Fourways and found the traffic insane and the prices worse. We moved out further west and I have not regretted it. Still, if you want to live in the Fourways area there are tons of complex's around there as well as nearby in places like Jukskei Park.

Remember there is a difference between an apartment (a unit in a larger block) and a complex (a free standing house in a walled off area with common security).

Live there for 2 years and then appreciate the "lack of" traffic when you move to the East Rand. And NEVER live to the West from where you work unless you work night shift. Sun in your eyes is just as bad as heavy traffic.
