Apex Legends moving you off your selected data center?

Hey folks, so I play Apex Legends on PC and I recently found out that they have added a feature so you can see the ping of the server you are playing on. I select the London data center for that sweet 150-160 ping, but then find out that in-game my pings go up to 180 or higher.

Do you guys think/know if they're shuffling us to a different data center, or if this is a routing issue?

I have seen this. I suspect that the 160 ping is the best case scenario. There are a lot more variables and dynamics that happen during game play that mean that you actual ping will be a little higher. I am just speculating here, I am not a expect in this field.

You're just picking your best case scenario server then Apex will put you into whatever server gets you in game the fastest that matches your skill level and you can just add 20ms to whatever you pick at the title screen. So in your screenshot you more than likely are playing on London.

The weird thing is I get about 165 for games like League of Legends, so I know 160ish ping is possible. But yes, maybe the servers are just poop and this is the best I'm going to get :/

Is anyone having even worse pings lately?
For the last week or so pings are 200 - 200ms (London) compared to 160 - 170ms odd. Doesn't sound like a lot but it's enough to ruin the fun. Don't even think of hot drops as if you race someone to loot you always end up 2nd best.

I've definitely been experiencing packet loss and rubber-banding last 2 weeks. Alt+F4 and a bit of swearing then I play something else.
